The petitioner was serving as a Professor in the respondent - Jawaharlal Nehru University ["University"] since 2008. The present petition concerns his request dated 28.03.2025 for voluntary retirement from service under the Voluntary Retirement Scheme ["VRS"], which was accepted by an order of the University dated 18.06.2025, subject to submission of No Dues Certificate.

It appears that the issue of the petitioner's voluntary retirement was thereafter embroiled in a controversy regarding two foreign visits undertaken by him, without obtaining prior approval. 3.

decision, the matter does not require further adjudication, as the petitioner's grievances are stated to be under positive consideration by the University itself.

Mr. Abhik Chimni, learned counsel for the petitioner, has handed over a communication dated 19.08.2025, addressed by him to the ViceChancellor of University, which is taken on record. The petitioner has sought condonation of the period of travel without prior approval and approval of his voluntary retirement with effect from 28.06.2025. As regards these aspects, Mr. Vasanth Rajasekaran, learned Senior Standing Counsel for the University, submits that the matter is being positively considered by the University, and will be resolved subject to the petitioner withdrawing the present writ petition. 5.

In the email dated 19.08.2025, the petitioner has additionally requested continuation under the Old Pension Scheme. As far as this aspect is concerned, Mr. Rajasekaran submits that a decision will be taken in due course, in accordance with law.

In view of the submissions noted above, Mr. Chimni seeks permission to withdraw the writ petition, with liberty to approach the Court afresh, if any grievance survives.

The writ petition is, accordingly, dismissed as withdrawn, with liberty as aforesaid. All pending applications also stand disposed of.
