This is a petition filed under Section 29A(4) and (5) read with Section 23 of the Arbitration and Conciliation Act, 1996 seeking extension of mandate of the Arbitral Tribunal by a period of one year for concluding the arbitral proceedings and passing the final award. 2.

It is stated that in the present case, the pleading could not be completed within 6 months i.e. till 20.10.2023, as respondents No. 2 was added subsequently. Despite service, respondent No. 2 did not appear before the Arbitral Tribunal. Hence the present petition. 3.

It is stated that the pleadings vis-a-vis respondent No. 1 is completed. 4.

Notice was issued in the petition and as per service report, respondents have been served. However, there is nobody appearing on their behalf.

For the reasons noted above, I am of the view that sufficient cause has been explained for the delay. Arbitral Tribunal is extended by a period of 2 months from today for completion of pleadings by respondent No. 2 and 10 months thereafter for concluding the arbitral proceedings and passing the final award. 6.
