The petitioner, who is aspiring to join Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) as a Constable/Driver, has approached this Court under Article 226 of the Constitution of India with the grievance that despite the respondents having informed him on 04.04.2024 that his case for appointment would be shortly considered by the Standing Screening Committee [SSC], no action has been taken by them till date.

submits that the SSC has already been constituted and cases of eligible candidates are being taken up for consideration by the SSC from time to time.

In the light of this stand taken by the respondents, we dispose of the writ petition by directing the respondents to ensure that the petitioner's case is taken up for consideration by SSC and a decision is taken within a period of six weeks as to whether the petitioner is fit for appointment in the CISF or not. However, a copy of the SSC's decision will be furnished to the petitioner as also to his counsel to enable him to seek appropriate legal recourse in case the need so arises.
