The instant writ petition under Article 226 of the Constitution of India read with Section 482 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973 ('Cr.P.C.') has been filed on behalf of petitioner seeking issuance of appropriate writ, order and or direction to provide protection to the petitioner herein. 2.

Issue notice. Mr. Anand V. Khatri, learned ASC accepts notice on behalf of State.

As per the petition filed by the petitioner it has been alleged that on 05.09.2022 at round 12:00 AM while the petitioner was returning back home on his bike, a while Creta car was allegedly overtaking petitioner's bike. After a few minutes, the said car had overtaken and had stopped petitioner's bike. Thereafter, 4-5 men had allegedly come out of the said white coloured Creta car and had tried to forcefully push the petitioner in the car. However, on agitation and resistance by the petitioner, the alleged persons had started kicking the petitioner. They had further allegedly threatened the petitioner that if he goes and testifies for his grandmother's case, they would kill him. The said persons had further asked the petitioner to ask for ransom from his grandmother and had suggested the petitioner to throw the old lady out of the house or else they would kill everyone in his family. Fortunately, petitioner had somehow managed to escape from them and had also identified one of the accused persons namely Akshay Mehta from his maternal uncle's side, alleged to be petitioner's cousin. It is, thus, prayed that petitioner be given protection and action be taken against all accused persons.

After hearing arguments addressed on behalf of the petitioner and perusing the material on record, this Court directs the petitioner to provide his mobile number to the concerned Investigating Officer and concerned SHO. Similarly, the mobile numbers of concerned IO, SHO and beat constable be also shared with the petitioner herein. 5.

The officials of P.S. Paschim Vihar including SHO are directed to respond and promptly provide adequate protection to the petitioner, in case such circumstances arise.

In the meantime, the District Judge, North, Rohini Court, Delhiwho also happens to be the chairman of the Witness Protection Committee before whom an application for protection will be moved by the petitioner herein is requested to ensure that the same is heard expeditiously and is disposed of in The authenticity of the order can be re-verified from Delhi High Court Order Portal by scanning the QR code shown above.
