The present petition has been filed praying for direction to the respondent to amend the Birth Certificate issued on 26th June, 2024, of the minor child, namely, Bhumika Agarwal, aged about fifteen years to change the spelling of her surname with single 'G' and to include the name of the petitioners as her parents, as per the Adoption Deed dated 06th January, 2011.

Learned counsel appearing for New Delhi Municipal Council ("NDMC"), on advance notice, has handed over a copy of the E-mail dated 21st August, 2025, which reads as under:

Learned counsel appearing for NDMC gives an undertaking before this Court that the needful will be done, expeditiously. 4.
Considering the aforesaid, the NDMC is bound by the aforesaid statement and is directed to do the needful, within a period of four weeks, from today.

The petitioners are directed to visit the office of the NDMC and produce all the requisite documents, as may be required by the NDMC. Additionally, the petitioners shall cooperate with the respondent in processing and passing appropriate directions with regard to the prayer, which is subject matter of the present writ petition. 6.
In case, the petitioners are still aggrieved by any non-action on behalf of NDMC, the petitioners shall be at liberty to revive the present writ petition.

Accordingly, let the needful be done by the NDMC, expeditiously, preferably within a period of four weeks.
