Present public interest petition has been filed seeking directions to the respondents for removal of encroachment on public land/road/footpath at Pul Mithai Chowk, Delhi - 110006 and towards Pili Kothi, Delhi - 110006. 2.

Petitioner, who appears in person, states that several hawkers and shopkeepers have encroached majority of the main road in the aforementioned area by putting their belongings and openly selling their goods.

He states that the same has an effect on the pedestrians by limiting their access and compromising their safety. He also states that the same is causing increased traffic congestion.

He states that he has submitted a representation to the respondents, highlighting the aforesaid grievances vide letters dated 14th August, 2024, however, no response has been received.

Learned counsel for respondents, who appears on advance notice, states that demolition/removal action has been carried out on 12th September, 2024.

The said fact is disputed by the petitioner.

Keeping in view of the aforesaid, this Court disposes of the present writ petition with a direction to the Municipal Corporation of Delhi to decide the petitioner's representation dated 14th August, 2024 in accordance with law, as expeditiously as possible. If any further action is required to be taken, the same shall be taken by the MCD in accordance with law.
