The Petitioner is a life convict in Case No. CC 36/2010, arising out of RC Nos. IMPH-2009-S0002 and IMPH-2009-S0003, registered under Sections 120B, 392, 364A, and 302 of the Indian Penal Code, 1860, at P.S. CBI-ACB, Imphal. He is aggrieved by the fact that his case has not been considered for premature release despite having undergone more than 16 years of actual imprisonment and over 20 years including remission. 2.

The period of custody undergone by the Petitioner is not in dispute in view of the status report placed on record. The Respondents have, in fact, acknowledged that the Petitioner has now become eligible for consideration of premature release and that his case shall be placed before the Sentence Review Board ('SRB') in its upcoming meeting. 3.
