4.

notice, submits that while processing the petitioner's application for registration, a reference was made by the said respondent to the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, on the ground that the petitioner's proposed society claims to be the Indian chapter of the Global Intellectual Property Alliance (GLIPA). It is submitted that there was an apprehension on account of the use of the word "global" in the aforesaid description. 6.
Learned senior counsel for the petitioner submits that the apprehension of the respondent no.2 is misplaced inasmuch as the name of the society does not include 'global'. Attention is drawn to the proposed Memorandum of Association (which is appended as Annexure P-1 to the present petition) which clearly discloses the name of the society to be 'GLIPA'.
7.
In view of the limited relief sought by the petitioner, the petition is disposed of with the following directions:- i.
The Ministry of Corporate Affairs shall respond to the reference made by the respondent no.2 vide letter dated 15.08.2025. Let the same be done within a period of three weeks from today. It shall be taken into account that the proposed name of the society does not include the word "Global" as part thereof.
ii.
Thereafter, the respondent no.2 shall take expeditious steps for registration of the society's name after compliance of all necessary formalities.
