This is a petition filed under section 29A (4) and (5) of the Arbitration and Conciliation Act, 1996 ("1996 Act") seeking extension of the mandate of the Arbitral Tribunal by a further period of twelve months for making and passing of the final Award.

It is stated that considerable amount of time elapsed on account of adjudication of the application filed under section 16 of the 1996 Act, challenging the jurisdiction of the Arbitral Tribunal and hence, the delay.

For the said reasons, issue notice to the respondent. 4.

Ms. Pande, learned counsel accepts notice on behalf of the respondent and has no objection to the petition being allowed. 5.

I am of the view that sufficient cause has been explained for the delay. For the reasons noted above, the petition is allowed and the mandate of the Arbitral Tribunal is extended by a further period of twelve months from today.
