This is a petition for quashing of FIR No. 541/1997 dated 24.05.1997 under Section 498A/406/34 IPC, PS Sultan Puri, Delhi. 2.

The allegation raised in the FIR is that there was a demand of dowry and threat to life on account of non-payment of dowry. 3.

During the pendency of the proceedings, the parties have settled their disputes and arrived at a settlement dated 04.12.2019 before the Delhi Mediation Centre, Rohini District Courts, Delhi. The complainant has agreed to cooperate in quashing of the FIR.

The petitioner is present through video conferencing mode and is identified by Mr. VK Vashisht, learned counsel. 5.

The respondent No. 2 is also present through video conferencing mode and identified by IO SI Himika, PS Sultanpuri. 6.

settlement out of their own free will, volition and without any threat, force, undue influence or coercion.

There is no child born out of the wed lock.

Since the parties have arrived at a settlement and no disputes are pending, I am convinced that quashing of such proceedings on account of compromise would bring about peace and would secure the ends of justice. This court does not see any fruitful purpose if criminal proceedings are permitted to be prosecuted any further. It is a fit case for quashing. In this view of the matter, there is no reason to continue the proceedings. 9.

For the reasons noted above, the FIR No. 541/1997 dated 24.05.1997 under Section 498A/406/34 IPC, PS Sultan Puri, Delhi and consequential proceedings, if any, emanating therefrom are hereby quashed. 10.
