The petitioner in the present petition, filed under Section 29(A)(5) of the Arbitration and Conciliation Act, 1996, seeks extension of time for completion of arbitral proceedings.

In the present case, the learned arbitrator came to be appointed vide order dated 12.12.2022 in ARB.P.138/2022. Learned counsel for the respondent, who appears on advance notice, submits that the petitioner has not been seriously pursuing the arbitration as a result of which there has been considerable delay. 9.

Be that as it may, the learned counsel for the respondent submits that he has no objection to the mandate of the arbitration being extended, subject to the arbitral proceedings being directed to be completed expeditiously. 10.

In the circumstances, with the consent of respective counsel, the time period for completion of arbitral proceedings and making the arbitral award is extended for a period of six months from today. The learned arbitrator is requested to expedite the arbitral proceedings. 11.
