By way of the present application, the applicant is seeking extension of the furlough granted to her by the competent authority on 27.08.2025. 2.
Issue notice. The learned ASC (Crl) accepts notice on behalf of the State.

The petitioner prays that his house is currently in a dilapidated condition, with numerous structural deficiencies including uneven and crooked floorboards, mice scurrying underfoot, and missing portions of the ceiling, which requires repairs and construction work. The Ld. Counsel for the petitioner submits that the present petition for furlough has been filed for a period of three months to enable the petitioner to undertake reconstruction and repair work of her house, which could not be completed due to adverse weather conditions and constant rains in the city. It is further submitted that subsequent to the conviction of the petitioner, her husband, aged about 54 years, has developed a heart condition and is not in a position to look after the construction work of the house.

The Ld. APP for the State submits that the petitioner cannot claim extension of furlough merely on the ground that her presence is required for completion of the construction work of the house. 6.
This Court has heard arguments addressed on behalf of both the parties, and has pursued the case file.

This Court is mindful of the submission that the husband of the petitioner is suffering from a heart condition however, no medical record in support of the same has been placed on record. The Court further notes that the petitioner‟s daughter is capable of supervising the remaining construction work of the house, as reflected in the photographs filed, and therefore, the presence of the petitioner for the purpose of repairing the house is not required.

Moreover, this Court notes that the petitioner has been convicted and awarded life imprisonment for the commission of offences punishable under Sections 302/201/120B of the Indian Penal Code. 9.

earlier granted furlough on 09.07.2025 for a period of 15 days and had surrendered on 24.07.2025. Thereafter, the furlough was extended from 27.08.2025 till 11.09.2025 based on the same grounds as have been raised in the present petition.

Therefore, this Court finds that the grounds are not sufficient to justify the extension of furlough. Accordingly, this Court finds no merit in the present application, which is hereby rejected. 11.
