This is a petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India read with Section 528 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023 ('BNSS') [erstwhile Section 482 of Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973 ('CrPC')] seeking, inter alia, the following prayers: "
a) Praying for registration of the FIR for cognizable offence for extortion and threat to life;
b) It is further prayed that the respondents may kindly be directed to provide security to the petitioner and also to his property as well as business premises.

The brief facts of the case are that the petitioner is running a jewellery shop in the name and style 'Om Shiv Giri Jewellers' at A-5/25, Krishna Nagar, Delhi-East. It is stated that the petitioner received a WhatsApp message on the firm's mobile number threatening to kill the owner of 'Om Shiv Giri Jewellers' and his family members at the behest of Lawrence Bishnoi gang.

The petitioner has already approached the learned CJMM for registration of FIR for cognizable offence and the matter is coming up on 03.12.2024. Hence, prayer a) has become infructuous. 4.
As regards prayer b) is concerned, Mr Bhandari, learned ASC states that a police picket has been installed adjacent to the shop of the petitioner. Mr Bhandari also assures that it is the responsibility and obligation of the respondent to ensure safety and security of all residents of Delhi including the petitioner and they are committed to this objective. 5.
Taking the statement of Mr Bhandari on record, on instructions of SI Vikas, PS- Krishna Nagar, Delhi and binding the respondent to the same, the petition is disposed of.

The petitioner assures that in case any information or threat or such call is received, he shall immediately inform the respondent. 7.
Earlier date of 29.11.2024 stands cancelled.
