The petitioner has approached this Court under Article 226 of the Constitution for a direction upon the respondent-Delhi Jal Board ["DJB"] to take action with regard to blocked sewerage lines in the neighbourhood of his property bearing No. T-171, Gali No. 5, Gautampuri, New Seelampur, Delhi-110053.

Ms. Vidushi Gupta, learned counsel for DJB, who appears on advance instructions, states that action has been taken from time to time for clearing of the sewerage pipes and to deal with the problem of sewage overflow in the locality. However, she states that the area in question will be inspected again within the next one week and necessary action will be taken by the DJB.

Mr. Atish Sahni, learned counsel for the petitioner, submits that the problem is occurring regularly and a permanent solution is required. is directed to apply its mind to the possibility of a permanent solution, if possible. For the present, DJB is also directed to nominate a Nodal Officer to whom the petitioner can raise his grievances in the event the problem re-occurs. The Nodal Officer will be responsible for timely remedial action. The contact details of the Nodal Officer will be supplied to the petitioner through learned counsel, within a period of one week from today.
