By way of the present writ petition, the petitioners have challenged Clause (iv) of Rule 7 of the Chartered Accountants (Election to the Council) Rules, 2006 alleging it to be ultra vires, arbitrary and unconstitutional so also contrary to Section 10 of the Chartered Accountants Act, 1949. 2.
The present petition was filed in the year 2006 in wake of the ensuing elections. A period of 20 years has since passed; the challenge to the validity of aforesaid Rule has lost its efficacy.

The present petition is, therefore, dismissed as infructuous. 4.
A copy of the present order be sent to the petitioner(s) via registered post, acknowledgement due. It shall be open for the petitioner(s) to apply for revival of the petition, if any cause survives and they propose to pursue the present writ petition.

The petition, however, stands disposed of.
