The present petition under Section 29A of the Arbitration and Conciliation Act, 1996 (hereinafter referred as 'the A&C Act') has been filed by the petitioner seeking extension of time for completion of arbitral proceedings and making of the arbitral award. 4.

The learned Sole Arbitrator was appointed by this court vide order dated 12.05.2022, pursuant to a petition filed by the petitioner under Section 11 of the A&C Act. It is submitted that the pleadings have been completed before the learned Sole Arbitrator and the arbitration is at the stage of recording evidence of the Claimant's witnesses. 5.

was noted that the requisite time period as contemplated under Section 29A of the A&C Act for completion of arbitral proceedings has expired and requisite steps would be taken by the parties to obtain appropriate time extension. The said order, inter-alia records as under:- "1. It has been pointed out that rejoinder was filed on 15.02.2023. Ld. counsel for the parties agreed that mandate of the Tribunal be extended for six months. However even in that eventuality the period of 18 months lapsed on 15.08.2024.

2. It may also be noted that parties took several dates to try and settle the matter.

3. Ld. counsel for the Claimant states that he will approach the Hon'ble Court for appropriate extension of the mandate of the Tribunal. Ld. Counsel for the Respondent very fairly states that they would have no objection in case such a petition is filed by the Claimant." 6.

The present petition is not opposed by the learned counsel for the respondent.

Accordingly, with the consent of the parties, the time period for completion of arbitral proceedings and making of the arbitral award is extended till 15.7.2025.
