O R D E R

The present petition has been filed by the petitioner raising a grievance that a major Public Works Department (PWD) road, namely Master Somnath Marg (Road No. 58A) passes through the petitioner's colony in respect of which the reconstruction/ renovation work was not done in a proper manner.

It is submitted by learned counsel for the Petitioner that the work has not only been unduly delayed, but the reconstruction and re-carpeting have also been carried out in a sub-standard manner, causing considerable inconvenience to the residents of the society. 3.

It is further submitted that the bitumen carpeting is extremely thin, to the extent that old road markings and bus stop lines remain visible in several places. It is alleged that the concerned contractor has not cut the old road surface adequately deep or wide, but only superficially scratched it to a depth of 25-30 mm indicating an attempt to lay the thinnest possible layer of bitumen in order to maximize profit margins.

commenced in the month of May, 2025 by Respondent No.2, the said work remains incomplete till date.

After some hearing, the present petition is disposed of with a direction to the Respondent No.2/ PWD to verify the allegation/s in the present writ petition, conduct an inspection and based thereon, take appropriate remedial measures immediately, as may be warranted. The PWD shall ensure that the work of renovation/ recarpeting the road is of adequate quality and same is completed expeditiously within the period contemplated in the contracts executed with the concerned construction companies/agencies. 6.

Let the inspection be conducted within a period of four weeks from today, and the copy of the inspection report be provided to the petitioner. 7.

In case the petitioner is aggrieved with the outcome of the aforesaid exercise, he shall be at liberty to avail appropriate remedies under law. 8.
