The Petitioner, a convict undergoing life imprisonment in proceedings arising from FIR No. 136/2006 registered under Sections 302/307 /449/34 of the Indian Penal Code, 1860 at P.S. Welcome, has invoked the jurisdiction of this Court under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, 1950 seeking grant of first spell of furlough for a period of 03 weeks. 2.
The Petitioner's conviction commenced on 29th July, 2013. On 18th August, 2025, he submitted an application seeking furlough. The Jail Superintendent apparently forwarded the application to the competent authority on 21st August, 2025; however, no decision thereon has been communicated to the Petitioner.

Accordingly, the present petition is disposed of with a direction to the Respondents to decide the Petitioner's application within one week from today and communicate the decision thereon to the Petitioner. 4.
In the event the decision is unfavourable to the Petitioner, he shall be at liberty to pursue appropriate legal remedies, in accordance with the law. 5.
