On the last date of hearing, the Registry was directed to issue Court Notice to the parties as well as their counsel as there was no representation on behalf of the parties.

As per the report of the Registry, some of the Petitioners have already passed away.

A perusal of the record reflects that at the relevant time, the Petitioners were working as Deputy Rangers with the Respondent No.3/Conservator of Forest and through the present Petition, the Petitioners were challenging the amendment made in the Recruitment Rules governing promotion to the post of Forest Ranger. 4.

In view of the passage of time and the fact that some of the Petitioners are no longer alive, the relief sought has lost its efficacy. The present Petition has, therefore, become infructuous. 5.

None appears for the parties despite service of notice. 6.

Accordingly, the present Petition is dismissed as infructuous and for non-prosecution.
