Learned counsel for petitioners prays for impleadment of petitioners - 1) Sant Kumar Kaushik, 2) Karthik Kaushik and 3) Sunita Kaushik. The prayer for impleadment is allowed. They are impleaded as respondents. Amended memo of parties is taken on record.

The petitioner seeks quashing of FIR No. 603 of 2016 under Sections 323/324/506/34 of the IPC registered at Police Station Hari Nagar, New Delhi, based on a settlement.

The parties are neighbours.

The subject FIR was registered consequent to a quarrel that took place between the parties with regard to installation of an electricity meter.

It is contended that with the

intervention of senior members of the locality and respectable persons of the neighbourhood, the parties have settled their disputes. Petitioners have agreed to pay a sum of Rs. 3 lakhs to respondent no. 2 - Parikshit Kaushik. It is further submitted on behalf of the parties that a memorandum of settlement dated 27.03.2017 has been executed between the parties.

Respondent no. 2 is present in person in Court today and is identified by the Investigating Officer. Respondent no. 3, 4 and 5 are present in person and identified by the investigating Officer. They submit that they have settled the disputes with the intervention of locals and respectable people of the locality and do not wish to press any complaint against the petitioners.

They, however, submit that they do not want any compensation.

Respondent No. 2 - Parikshit Kaushik confirms that he has received the entire amount of Rs. 3 lakhs and does not wish to press the criminal complaint against the petitioners any further. 6.

In view of the fact that the disputes between the parties has been settled, continuation of criminal proceedings will be an exercise in futility and justice in the case demands that the dispute between the parties is put to an end and peace is restored; securing the ends of justice being the ultimate guiding factor. It would also be expedient to quash the subject FIRs and the consequent proceedings emanating therefrom.

In view of the above, the petitions are allowed. FIR No. 603 of

2016 under Sections 323/324/506/34 of the IPC registered at Police Station Hari Nagar, New Delhi and the consequent proceedings emanating therefrom are accordingly quashed.
