Mr. Shlok Chandra, learned Senior Standing Counsel for the respondent submitted that due to backlog and pressure of time barring assessments, requisite exercise for refund of the due amount could not be made.

He assures that the paper refund or in other words refund in physical form (cheque etc.) along with applicable interest under Section 244 and 244A of the Income Tax Act, 1961 shall be made within three weeks. 3.
The writ petition stands disposed of by directing the respondents to pay the amount due along with applicable statutory interest latest by 15.04.2026.
