By way of present writ petition, the petitioner seeks quashing of FIR bearing no. 71/2024, registered at Police Station Rajinder Nagar, Delhi for the commission of offences punishable under Section 469 of the Indian Penal Code, 1860 (hereafter 'IPC').

The petitioner and respondent no. 2 are present before this Court. They have been identified by their counsels and concerned Investigating Officer (IO) from Police Station Rajinder Nagar, Delhi. 5.

intent to defame respondent No. 2, certain unknown individuals had taken his photograph from his Facebook account, created false and fabricated documents, and circulated them on the internet. Misled by such false material and allegedly acting under instigation from individuals around him, the petitioner had made certain statements on social media, which are stated to have caused grievance to respondent No. 2. Aggrieved therefrom, respondent No. 2 had filed a Complaint Case No. 705 of 2023, on the basis of which the present FIR had been registered against the petitioner under the relevant sections. It is howver stated that both the parties have now amicably settled the present matter vide Settlement Deed dated 27.09.2025, entered between them.

On a query made by this Court, respondent no.2, who has been identified by the concerned IO, has categorically stated that he has entered into compromise out of his own free will and without any pressure, coercion or threat. It is also stated by respondent no. 2 that the entire dispute has been amicably settled between the parties. Respondent no. 2 further states that he has no objection if the present FIR is quashed. 7.

In view of the above fact that the parties have amicably resolved their differences of their own free will, without any coercion and no useful purpose will be served by continuing the proceedings, rather the same would create further acrimony between them. It would thus be in interest of justice to quash the abovementioned FIR and the proceedings pursuant thereto. There is no legal impediment in quashing the FIR in question. 8.

Accordingly, FIR bearing No. 71/2024, registered at Police Station Rajinder Nagar, Delhi for the commission of offences punishable under Section 469 of the IPC and all consequential proceedings emanating The authenticity of the order can be re-verified from Delhi High Court Order Portal by scanning the QR code shown above.

therefrom are quashed, subject to costs of Rs.20,000/- to be deposited by the petitioner with Delhi High Court Advocates' Welfare Fund, within a period of one week from date.
