By way of the present petition, the petitioner is seeking quashing of FIR bearing no. 585/2016, registered at Police Station Mukherjee Nagar, Delhi for the commission of offences punishable under Sections 341/354/506 of Indian Penal Code, 1860 (hereafter 'IPC'). 2.
Issue notice. Mr. Manoj Pant, the learned APP accepts notice on behalf of the State.

The petitioner and respondent no. 2 are present before this Court in person. They have been identified by their counsels and concerned Investigating Officer (IO) from Police Station Mukherjee Nagar, Delhi. 4.

It is stated that during his Graduation, the petitioner and respondent no.2 were residing in the locality of north campus Delhi University and were well acquainted with each other and their educational background very well. On 08.07.2016, some communication took place between petitioner and respondent no.2 about their education as well as friendly relations. The petitioner, however, wrongly misunderstood such relation beyond the friendship and developed affection towards respondent no.2 and sudden denial of communication on the part of respondent no.2 made the petitioner somewhat possessive and the petitioner attempted to make her understand about their relationship but due to misunderstanding on the part of respondent no.
2 regarding the bona fide intent of the petitioner turned into lodging of the present FIR against the petitioner under the relevant sections. It is further stated that both the parties have now amicably settled their disputes vide Compromise Deed dated 09.09.2024, entered between them.

On a query made by this Court, respondent no.2 who has been identified by the concerned IO, has categorically stated that she has entered into compromise out of her own free will and without any pressure, coercion or threat. It is also stated by respondent no. 2 that the entire dispute has been amicably settled between the parties. Therefore, she has no objection if the present FIR is quashed.

This Court is informed by the learned counsel for the petitioner that the case is still at the stage of arguments on charge for the last 10 years and the charges have not yet been framed.

differences of their own free will, without any coercion and no useful purpose will be served by continuing the proceedings, rather the same would create further acrimony between them. It would thus be in interest of justice to quash the abovementioned FIR and the proceedings pursuant thereto. There is no legal impediment in quashing the FIR in question. 8.
Accordingly, FIR bearing no. 585/2016, registered at Police Station Mukherjee Nagar, Delhi for the commission of offences punishable under Sections 341/354/506 of IPC and all consequential proceedings emanating therefrom are quashed, Subject to petitioner depositing a cost of Rs.10,000/- with the Delhi High Court Advocates Welfare Trust within a period of two weeks from date.

In view of the above, the present petition stands disposed of. 10.
