The petitioner has approached this Court aggrieved by the action of the respondents in issuing the same Permanent Account Number (PAN) to another individual as well. The petitioner was issued a PAN Card bearing PAN AMHPS9610D. Apparently, an identical PAN was also ascribed to another individual. The explanation for the same is that the other individual has the same name - Amandeep Singh. In addition, both the petitioner as well as the other individual were born on the same date. Further, the names of the fathers of the petitioner and the other individual are also identical. 2.

The petitioner's grievance in this regard has been addressed as the petitioner has been issued bearing a different number. The petitioner now requests that his Income Tax Returns filed under the earlier PAN be linked to the PAN that has been currently issued to him. Plainly, the said request cannot be denied and the respondents are directed to do the needful to ensure

that the Income Tax Returns filed by the petitioner under the old PAN are linked to the PAN now issued to the petitioner. 3.
