By way of the present petition, the petitioner seeks quashing of FIR bearing no. 375/2017, registered at Police Station Sunlight Colony, SouthEast District, New Delhi, for the commission of offence punishable under sections 324/506/509 of the Indian Penal Code, 1860 ('IPC'). 2.

Issue notice. The learned APP accepts notice on behalf of the State. 3.

The petitioner and respondent no. 2 are present before this Court and have been identified by their counsel and Investigating Officer (IO) concerned from Police Station Sunlight Colony, South-East District, New Delhi.

Brief facts of the case are that on 29.09.2017 at about 11:30 PM, the complainant, after dropping her sister at Bharat Petrol Pump, was allegedly attacked by the petitioner, who was residing at Babu Dham Flat and also at a flat situated in Sunlight Colony near Madrasi Mandir, New Delhi. It is alleged that the petitioner had approached her from behind, abused her, and inflicted knife injuries on various parts of her body, causing her to become unconscious. He also allegedly took her mobile phone. It is further alleged that for several months prior to the incident, the petitioner had been harassing and threatening her, repeatedly insisting on marriage and threatening to kill her if she refused. She stated that she had previously made a complaint by calling the police helpline (100), but no effective action was taken.

She also stated that she works in the canteen of CBI Headquarters and that the petitioner would allegedly harass her whenever he found an opportunity, particularly as she resides only with her mother. On the basis of complaint made by the complainant, the present FIR was registered against the petitioner.

After investigation, the chargesheet was filed before the concerned Court. It is stated that during pendency of the trial, the parties have amicably settled their disputes vide Compromise Deed dated 09.01.2024. 6.

It is stated that as per the MLC dated 30.09.2017 conducted at AIIMS, New Delhi, the complainant had sustained simple/minor injuries. 7.

On a query made by this Court, respondent no. 2, who has been identified by the IO, has categorically stated that she has entered into compromise out of her own free will and without any pressure, coercion or threat. It is also stated that she has received compensation amount from the petitioner, towards her medical expenses. the present FIR is quashed.

In view of the above, that the parties have amicably resolved their differences out of their own free will, and without any coercion, no useful purpose will be served by continuing the proceedings, rather the same would create further acrimony between them. It would thus be in interest of justice to quash the abovementioned FIR and the proceedings pursuant thereto. There is no legal impediment in quashing the FIR in question. 9.

Accordingly, FIR bearing no. 375/2017, registered at Police Station Sunlight Colony, South-East District, New Delhi, for the commission of offence punishable under sections 324/506/509 of IPC and all consequential proceedings emanating therefrom are quashed.

In view of above, the present petition stands disposed of. 11.
