This is a writ petition seeking direction for the release of petitioner on furlough for a period of 03 weeks to re-establish social ties with his family and friends and to meet his new born child.

Petitioner has been convicted under Sections 302/392/34 IPC and sentenced with life imprisonment.

Learned counsel submits that convict has completed about 12 years in custody with remission of about 4 years. of the petitioner dated 11.08.2025 for the grant of furlough has not been decided by the competent authority within 4 weeks in terms of mandate of Rule 1213(8)(X) of Delhi Prison Rules, 2018.

Learned ASC who appears for the respondent/State seeks 10 days time to decide the application.

Since the application is already pending before the competent authority, the present petition is disposed of with direction to decide the application within 10 days and such decision be communicated to the petitioner immediately thereafter.
