The petitioner is a registered society, comprised of drivers of city taxis registered in Delhi. It has filed this petition seeking a revision in the notified rates for city taxies under Section 67 of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988. Alongwith the writ petition, a copy of a representation made by the petitioner to the respondent on 10.09.2024 has also been annexed. 2.

Having heard learned counsel for the petitioner and learned counsel for the respondent, who appears on advance notice, I am of the view that the exercise of tariff fixation ought to be undertaken at the first instance by the respondent. The respondent is, therefore, directed to treat this writ petition as a part of the petitioner's representation dated 10.09.2024, and to communicate its decision thereupon to the petitioner within six weeks from today. clarification from the petitioner, and may invite the petitioner's representative for discussion, if required.
