The present petition under Section 29A(4) of the Arbitration and Conciliation Act, 1996 has been filed by the Petitioner for extending the mandate of the Arbitral Tribunal.

Material on record indicates that an Arbitral Tribunal was constituted by this Court on 04.01.2024. Pleadings stood complete on 15.05.2024. The period of one year from the date of completion of pleadings came to an end on 15.05.2024. The mandate of the Arbitral Tribunal was extended by six months by mutual consent of the parties till 14.11.2025. The mandate of the Arbitral Tribunal will expire on 14.11.2025, and therefore, the present petition has been filed for extending the mandate of the Arbitral Tribunal. It is stated that the final arguments are being advanced before the Arbitral Tribunal.

In view of the facts of the present case, this Court is inclined to extend the mandate of the Arbitral Tribunal from 14.11.2025 to 31.10.2026, so that the award can be pronounced.

This Order is only confined to the request for extending the mandate of the Arbitral Tribunal and all the allegations/averments made against the Respondent in the present petition regarding its conduct or otherwise stand eschewed.

The petition is disposed of, along with the pending applications, if any.
