The instant petition under Section 29A(4) & (5) of the Arbitration & Conciliation Act, 1996 have been filed by the Petitioner seeking extension of the mandate of the Arbitral Tribunal for a period of one year in the arbitration proceedings which are going on between the parties before the Arbitral Tribunal.

Material on record indicates that the Arbitral Tribunal was constituted on 23.09.2021. It is stated that the mandate of the Arbitral Tribunal was last extended on 29.02.2024. Tribunal will come to an end on 31.12.2024, the Petitioner has approached this Court seeking extension of the mandate of the Arbitral Tribunal for making the Arbitral Award.

In the facts and circumstance of this case, this Court is inclined to extend the mandate of the Arbitral Tribunal for a further period of six months with effect from 31.12.2024 so that the Award can be pronounced and no further extension of time would be required by the Tribunal. 4.

The petition is disposed of along with the pending applications, if any.
