This petition has been filed by the petitioner, inter alia, praying for the issuance of a direction to the respondents to grant seniority to the petitioner in the rank of the Head Constable/GD from June 2015, the date when he was originally empanelled for promotion vide approved list no. A/GD-12/2013, and further promote the petitioner to the rank of the Assistant Sub Inspector with seniority at par with his batchmates, that is, from November 2022, with all consequential benefits.

The learned counsel for the respondents, who appears on advance notice, submits on instructions that the respondents shall consider the contents of the present petition as a representation of the petitioner and shall decide the same within a period of eight weeks from today. The respondents are bound by the above submissions. They shall communicate their order to the petitioner within the above period. In case the petitioner is aggrieved by the order passed on his representation, it shall be open to the petitioner to challenge the same in accordance with law. We make it clear that we have not expressed any opinion on the merits of the present case. 4.
