This petition has been filed by the petitioners praying for a direction to the respondent to decide on the claim of the petitioners for their appointment to the post of Constable (GD) (in the case of petitioner nos.1 and 3) and to the post of Sub-Inspector (in the case of petitioner no. 2).

The case of the petitioners has been referred by the respondent to the Standing Screening Committee for scrutiny on the basis of the criminal cases disclosed by the petitioners at the time of verification of their documents and antecedents.

for the other candidates selected in the same selection process is likely to commence on 06.01.2025.

Keeping in view the above, the present petition is disposed of directing the respondent/Standing Screening Committee of the respondent to decide on the candidature of the petitioners within a period of three weeks from today. In case the petitioners are found eligible for appointment, their candidature shall be further processed by the respondent in accordance with law. In case the representation of the petitioners is rejected, a speaking order shall be passed by the respondent, and it shall be open to the petitioners to challenge the same in accordance with law. We make it clear that we have not expressed any opinion on the merits of the present case. 5.
