This is a petition seeking quashing of the FIR No. 505/2017 registered at PS Shakarpur under Sections 406 of IPC, chargesheet under sections 406/411/468/471 of IPC and proceedings emanating therefrom. 2.

As per the allegations, the petitioner had taken a commercial vehicle of the complainant on rent and did not pay the maintenance amount or return the car. Hence, the FIR.

During the pendency of the proceedings, the parties have arrived at a settlement on 19.11.2024, wherein the petitioner has paid Rs. 42,000/- to the complainant.

The petitioner is present and has been identified by Mr. Sushil Kumar, learned counsel.

The respondent No.2 is also present and has been identified by SI Kavish Rana, PS Laxmi Nagar.

The parties state that they arrived at the settlement out of their own free will and without any undue influence, threat, pressure or coercions. 7.

I am convinced that quashing of such proceedings on account of compromise would bring about peace and would secure ends of justice. This should not be treated as a legal precedent as in this case, the proceedings are quashed as the respondent has decided to put a quietus to the matter. The Court does not see any fruitful purpose if criminal proceedings are permitted to be prosecuted any further. It is a fit case for quashing. In this view of the matter, there is no reason to continue the proceedings.

In view of the aforesaid, the FIR No. 505/2017 registered at PS Shakarpur under Sections 406 of IPC, chargesheet under sections 406/411/468/471 of IPC and all consequential proceedings emanating therefrom are hereby quashed.
