This Petition under Section 29A(4) and 29A(5) of the Arbitration and Conciliation Act, 1996 has been filed by the Petitioner for extending the mandate of the Sole Arbitrator who was appointed by this Court on 23.11.2021 in a petition being ARB. P. 961/2021 filed by the Petitioner. 2.

Material on record indicates that vide Order dated 28.05.2024, the mandate of the Arbitrator was extended by this Court till 31.12.2024. The mandate of the Arbitrator is going to expire on 31.12.2024. 3.

Learned Counsel appearing for the Respondent submits that he has no objections if the mandate of the Arbitrator is extended. 4.

Taking into account the facts of the present case, this Court is inclined to extend the mandate of the Sole Arbitrator for a period of eight months from 31.12.2024, so that the award can be pronounced. In view of the fact that the Sole Arbitrator was appointed in November, 2021 and three years have lapsed after the appointment, the Ld. Arbitrator is requested to conclude the Arbitration Proceedings on or before the extended period.
