This petition has been filed by the petitioner praying for the following relief:- "(i) Issue a writ of mandamus directing the respondents to upgrade the basic pay of the petitioner @ Rs.50,500.00 per month or such other sum at par with his juniors viz. Sub Inspector/GD SL Uday Kumar Force No.913101798 and Sub Inspector/GD Somnath Sahu Force No.911260267 (and other juniors mentioned by the petitioner in the representations submitted by him) and batchmate viz. Sub Inspector/GD Netrapal Force No.903081724 and Sub Inspector/GD Krishan Kumar Force No.903052947 (and other batchmate mentioned by the petitioner in the representations submitted by him) and consequently make payment of arrears of basic pay to the petitioner together with interest @ 18% per annum;"
