O R D E R

% 13.11.2018 Vide the present petition the petitioner has challenged the order dated 17.07.2017 whereby the Central Information Commission has directed as under:

"The Commission suggests the respondent authority to act sensibly and recommends Chief Postmaster General, New Delhi to instruct all the post masters to discourage demanding of money for documents less than 25 pages or cost not exceeding Rs.50. The Post Offices should be inclined to facilitate inspection to the applicants when they are seeking information involving records/files/documents consisting of more than 25 pages. They should not harass the people. The Commission directs the respondent authority to provide certified copies of the information as sought, free of cost, within 21 days from the date of receipt of this order. Disposed of."

Counsel for the petitioner submits that under RTI, if any information is sought that to be given by charging the amount as prescribed in the Act.

This Court does not dispute the provisions of the Act. However, it is clarified that the directions to the petitioner herein to provide certified copies of the information as sought, free of cost within 21 days from the date of receipt of the order is qua the respondent herein, it is not a general direction passed to the petitioner.
