This is a petition under Section 29A(4) of the Arbitration & Conciliation Act for extension of mandate of the Arbitrator to enable the Arbitrator to complete the arbitration proceedings and render the award. 2.
It is stated that disputes arose between the parties in respect of a Gas Transmission Agreement (GTA). Material on record indicates that the parties mutually appointed a Sole Arbitrator to adjudicate the disputes between the parties.

Material on record indicates that the arbitration proceedings are at the stage of cross-examination of the Claimant's witnesses. It is stated that repeated extension of mandate has been granted by this Court. 4.
It is stated that the delay has primarily occurred because of the intervening COVID-19 period and also because of the fact that Respondent No.1 was undergoing a CIRP process.

on 11.12.2024. The Petitioner has approached this Court seeking extension of the mandate of the Arbitral Tribunal for a period of one year so that the award can be passed.

Considering the facts and circumstances of the case, this Court is inclined to extend the mandate of the Arbitral Tribunal for a period of one year from 11.12.2024.
