This is a petition filed under Article 226 of Constitution of India seeking directions to respondents to take steps to ensure safety and protection of the petitioner and his family under Witness Protection Scheme, 2016.

Mr. Kalra, learned counsel for the petitioner states that the petitioner has repeatedly being threatened and has been receiving extortion call from unknown numbers despite the same having duly been informed to the respondent Nos. 3 and 4.

In the present case, the petitioner has duly made an application under the Witness Protection Scheme for providing protection. The Witness Protection Committee is requested to decide the said application of the petitioner at the earliest as the same is involving threat to the life of the petitioner.

wherein it has been stated that the security near the petitioner's premises has been increased. It is further stated that special patrolling of police officials shall be ensured near the residence of the petitioner. 5.

The mobile numbers of SHO, Burari, Divisional Officers and Beat Officers have already been shared with the petitioner. It is the responsibility of the respondent Nos. 3 and 4 to ensure safety and security of every citizen including that of the petitioner. 6.

Mr. Sinha, learned ASC states that the respondent No. 3 is committed to that goal and will take adequate steps for protection of life and liberty of the petitioner.

It is also stated that pick and drop facility has already been arranged for the petitioner on the date when he has to depose before the Hon'ble Court.

In case the respondent No. 3, after threat perception analysis (which shall be done within 3 days from today), is of the view that the PSO needs to be provided, the same shall be done. 9.

The status report handed over in Court today is taken on record.

10. With these directions, the petition is disposed of.
