Crl.M.A. 11700/2018 in W.P.(Crl.) No. 925/2018 This is an application seeking extension of the period of parole. The petitioner was granted four weeks' parole vide order dated 1st June, 2018 in order to enable him to file a SLP against the order dated 14th December, 2017 passed by this Court. Learned counsel for the petitioner submits that due to the ongoing summer vacations, the petitioner, despite his best efforts was not able to get the SLP filed. He, therefore, prays for further two months extension of the parole granted to the Petitioner.

Issue notice. Ms. Kamana Vohra, ASC, who appears on advance notice for Respondent while opposing the application,

submits that there is no reason as to why the petitioner could not get the SLP filed within the aforesaid period of four weeks during which he was on parole.

However having considered the rival contentions of the parties, I am of the view that considering the fact that the Supreme Court was closed for summer vacations in June 2018, during which period, many of the lawyers may not have been available in station, interest of justice demands that the period of parole granted to the petitioner be extended by a period of two weeks. Accordingly, the period of parole is extended by two weeks on the same terms and conditions as stated in the order dated 1st June, 2018. The petitioner will surrender immediately after the expiry of the extended time of parole. The application is disposed of in the above terms. Order dasti. REKHA PALLI (VACATION JUDGE) JUNE 29, 2018 sk
