The Petitioner has filed the instant petition, seeking directions to the Respondents to decide the applications for issuance of Identity Certificates of the Petitioner's children in a time-bound manner. 2.

The Petitioner, an Indian Citizen, is married to an Afghan National Shugufa Ahmadi. From this union, the Petitioner has two children namely, Sara Ahmadi, born on 15th July, 2014 and Aryan Ahmadi, born on 04th August, 2023. The Petitioner's children have not been recognized as Indian citizens as yet.

On an earlier occasion, the Indian Authority had issued an Identity Certificate1 in favour of Sara Ahmadi for a period of five years, however, the said IC stands expired. The Petitioner's wife, Shugufa Ahmadi, has now 1 "IC"

been issued a Single-Entry Return Visa by the Foreigners Regional Registration Office, New Delhi for a period of three months valid from 28th November, 2024 to 26th February, 2025. Since the Petitioner's spouse has been granted a return visa, the Petitioner intends to travel to Canada along with his wife and children. However, the Petitioner's children have not been issued their passports yet, since the question of their citizenship is still pending consideration. Therefore, in order to undertake the travel to Canada, the children require travel documents in the nature of ICs. 4.

In this regard, the Petitioner has submitted an application to the Regional Passport Office, New Delhi on 2nd December, 2024 requesting for issuance of ICs for his children. Accordingly, the Petitioner seeks a direction to the Respondents to decide the said request in a time-bound manner. 5.

Considering the fact that the Single-Entry Return visa granted to Shugufa Ahmadi is due to expire on 26th February, 2025, it is directed that the Petitioner's request for issuance of ICs for his minor children, be decided within a period of two weeks from today.

With the above direction, the present petition is disposed of. 7.
