This is a petition under Section 29A (3) of the Arbitration & Conciliation Act seeking extension of mandate of the arbitration proceedings beyond 17.12.2024.

Material on record indicates that disputes have arisen between the parties under the Insurance Policy dated 15.06.2017 issued by the Respondent in favour of the Petitioner.

It is stated that the Petitioner approached this Court seeking appointment of an Arbitrator and this Court vide Order dated 15.10.2020 in ARB. P 362/2020 appointed a Sole Arbitrator to adjudicate upon the disputes between the parties.

It is stated that this Court vide Order dated 18.12.2023 extended the mandate of the Arbitral Tribunal for a period of one year from 18.12.2023. is also stated that vide said order, this Court also regularised the period from 27.08.2023 till 18.12.2023. This is a second petition seeking extension of mandate of the Arbitral Tribunal. It is stated that evidence has been concluded and the matter has been placed for final arguments. 5.

In view of the fact that substantial time and money has been spent by both sides in the arbitration proceedings and both sides do not have any grievance in the way the arbitration proceedings are being conducted, this Court is inclined to extend the mandate of the Arbitral Tribunal for a period of one year from today, i.e., till 20.01.2026. Further, the period from 17.12.2024 till today is also regularised.
