Heard the learned counsel for the parties.

This Public Interest Litigation Petition has been filed seeking a direction to the respondents to ensure that traffic signals in the city of Delhi at various points continue to function round the clock. Another prayer made in the petition is that the respondents be directed to conduct a technical audit in relation to non-functioning of the traffic signals in Delhi, particularly during late night hours and also to form a Standard Operating Procedure. The petitioner also prays that appropriate direction may be issued to the respondents to put in place a uniform record keeping mechanism for maintaining the traffic signal operations across Delhi.

Mr. Rohan Jaitley, learned Standing Counsel representing the respondent nos. 1 and 3 has stated that for addressing such issues, a Committee has been formed headed by Deputy Commissioner of Police (Technical), Delhi Police and overall supervision of traffic issues is entrusted to the Special Commissioner of Police (Traffic), Delhi Police, where the petitioner can raise his grievances.

Accordingly, without entering into the merit of the claim of the petitioner, we permit the petitioner to represent the said Committee by way of making an exhaustive representation which may contain all the averments and documents on which the petitioner intends to rely. 5.

Mr. Jaitley is requested to provide the constitution and the address of the said Committee to the learned counsel representing the petitioner within two days.

Once any such representation is made, the Committee as aforesaid shall take up the issues and take appropriate decisions and actions, which may be warranted, to redress the grievances raised in the Public Interest Litigation Petition. The decisions on the representation to be preferred by the petitioner under this order shall be taken up within a period of two months and the same shall also be communicated to the petitioner as well. 7.

The Public Interest Litigation Petition stands disposed of in the aforesaid terms. Pending applications, if any, also stand disposed of.
