The present petition is filed seeking quashing of FIR 258/2016 dated 20th April 2016 registered at P.S. Sagarpur under Sections 354/354A IPC on basis of settlement dated 30th November 2024 which is on record of this Court. Charges were framed under Section 354 IPC on 10th October 2023. 2.
Petitioner no.1 and respondent no.2 are present before the Court and duly identified by the IO and respective counsel. Respondent no. 2 states that she has no objection to the FIR being quashed. The petitioner is the brother-in-law of respondent no.2 and inter se issues have been amicably settled.

counsel for the parties, there is background of matrimonial discord between respondent no.2 and the husband and her family. Accordingly, the FIR stands quashed.

Considering the above settlement between the parties and the chances of conviction of the petitioner being remote and bleak, there is no use continuing with proceedings of the present FIR as it would be a misuse of the process of the Court and an unnecessary burden on the State exchequer. 5.
Accordingly, the petition is allowed. Consequently, the FIR 258/2016 dated 20th April 2016 registered at P.S. Sagarpur under Sections 354/354A IPC and proceedings emanating therefrom are quashed. 6.
Parties shall abide by the terms of settlement. 7.
Accordingly, the petition is disposed of. Pending applications are disposed of as infructuous.
