The present petition under Section 29A (4) & (5) of the Arbitration and Conciliation Act, 1996 (hereinafter 'the A&C Act') seeks extension of time for completion of arbitral proceedings and making of the arbitral award.

This Court, vide order dated 28.01.2021 passed in OMP(T)(COMM) No. 59/2020, appointed a sole arbitrator to adjudicate the disputes between the parties. It is submitted that the arbitral proceedings are at an advanced stage and the respondent's witnesses are in the process of being crossexamined by the petitioner/claimant. 5.

The initial 12 month period for completing arbitration proceedings lapsed on 28.02.2023. the time limit by six months under Section 29A (3) A&C Act. Upon expiry of this extended period, a further extension of one year was granted by this Court vide order dated 19.01.2024 passed in OMP (MISC.)(COMM.) 43/2024. This extended period is going to expire on 31.12.2024. The petitioner now seeks a further one year extension to complete the arbitration proceedings.

It is jointly requested that an appropriate extension of time be granted for completion of arbitral proceedings and making of arbitral award. 7.

In the circumstances, the time period for completion of arbitral proceedings and making of arbitral award is extended till 31.12.2025. 8.

The petition is allowed in the above terms.
