This is a petition seeking quashing of F.I.R No. 336/2021 dated 08.09.2021 under sections 498-A/406/34 IPC registered at Police Station Lajpat Nagar.

Petitioners are present in Court and have been identified by their counsel, Ms. Meenal Duggal.

Respondent No. 2 is also present in Court and has been identified by her counsel Mr. Anant Bhusha.

It is stated that the parties have arrived at a settlement dated 16.05.2024 pursuant to which the petitioner had to pay a sum of Rs. 17.5 lakhs to respondent No.2, out of which Rs. 13 lakhs has already been paid and the balance sum of Rs. 4.5 lakhs has been paid today in Court by way of Demand Draft No. 863772 dated 16.12.2024 drawn on State Bank of India. 7.

Both parties state that they have entered into the aforesaid settlement out of their own free will, volition and without any threat, force, undue influence or coercion. It is stated by respondent No.2 that she has no objection if the FIR is quashed.

There is no child born out of the wedlock.

Since the parties have arrived at a settlement and no disputes are pending, I am convinced that quashing of such proceedings on account of compromise would bring about peace and would secure ends of justice. The Court does not see any fruitful purpose if criminal proceedings are permitted to be prosecuted any further. It is a fit case for quashing. In this view of the matter, there is no reason to continue the proceedings. 10.

In this view of the matter, F.I.R No. 336/2021 dated 08.09.2021 under sections 498-A/406/34 IPC registered at Police Station Lajpat Nagar is hereby quashed.

The petition is disposed of accordingly.
