The present petition has been filed by the petitioner raising a grievance that a request for change of date of birth in her passport and also the request for removal of her spouse's name have not been processed by the concerned authorities despite persistent follow ups by the petitioner. 4.
It is submitted that the date of birth has been wrongly mentioned in the passport as 19.05.1988 instead of 19.05.1991. Furthermore, the petitioner is separated from her husband and hence seeks to remove his name from the passport.

The petitioner initially approached the Ghaziabad Passport authorities for updation of the aforesaid details. However, it is averred in the present petition that the petitioner is now residing at H. Learned counsel for the respondent, who appears on advance notice opposes the present petition pointing out that the regional passport office, Ghaziabad was constrained to reject the request of the petitioner on the ground that the date of birth as reflected in her passport i.e. 19.05.1988 is consistent with the date mentioned in her high school certificate. However, he concedes that there is no impediment in deleting the name of her spouse from the petitioner's passport upon necessary application being made by the petitioner.

In the circumstances, the present petition is disposed of with a direction to the petitioner to apply afresh for the requisite amendment as sought by her in her passport. Let the necessary documents in support of her request, including the relevant high school certificate, be enclosed along with the said application.

Upon the application being submitted, the petitioner shall be granted an opportunity to appear before the concerned Regional Passport Officer, who shall grant an opportunity of hearing to the petitioner and pass the necessary order / carry out necessary amendments within a period of six weeks from the date of submission of the application. 9.
