1. This is a petition filed under section 29A of Arbitration and Conciliation Act, 1996 seeking extension of the mandate of the arbitral tribunal for a period of 6 months.

2. The extension of the mandate is opposed on the ground that the petitioner himself had delayed the proceedings inordinately.

3. In the present case, the table annexed with the reply shows that there were disputes with regard to the views of the Arbitrator and the respondent had filed a writ petition being W.P.(C) 1027/2024 challenging the DIAC order for separate assessment of fees.

4. The writ petition consumed some time and thereafter, the respondent challenged the same by filing an LPA which again took some time. Hence, the delay.

5. I am satisfied that sufficient cause has been shown. For the said reasons, the mandate of the arbitral tribunal is extended by a period of six months from today.

6. The period from 24.11.2024 till today stands regularised.

7. The Arbitrator is requested to conclude the proceedings within the said period of six months.

8. The petition is disposed of.
