1. The latest status report reveals that the Petitioner's daughter was rescued from a place in Bengaluru from the custody of Atif @ Jameel Ahmad and initially handed over to the Karnataka Police. She was produced before the Child Welfare Committee (CWC) in Bengaluru. On 8th August 2018, she was brought to Delhi.
2. Her medical examination in Delhi took place on 10th August 2018 and her statement under Section 164 Cr PC was recorded before the learned Duty Metropolitan Magistrate on 11th August 2018. On 13th August 2018, she was produced before the CWC, Lajpat Nagar and after counselling, her custody has been restored to the Petitioner.
3. The status report also notes that on 7th August 2018, the accused was produced before the Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate in Bengaluru
City and transit remand was obtained till 10th August 2018. However, while in police custody, the accused escaped and a separate FIR has been registered in that regard. A departmental inquiry has been initiated against the erring police officials accompanying the accused.
4. Since the main prayer of the Petitioner in the present case stands fulfilled, no further directions are called for. It is expected that the police will take the criminal cases registered to their logical conclusion.
5. The petition is disposed of.
