The Petitioner is a life convict in FIR No. 569/2000, registered at P.S. Preet Vihar, under Sections 364A/34 of the Indian Penal Code, 18601. The Petitioner was granted parole by the State for a period of two weeks by order dated 4th December, 2025 and is due to surrender today. On 12th December, 2025, the Petitioner submitted an application seeking extension of parole, however, the same remains pending.

Constrained by the aforesaid circumstances, the Petitioner has filed the instant writ petition under Article 226 of the Constitution of India read with Section 528 of the Bhartiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 20232 1 "IPC"

(corresponding to Section 482 of the code of Criminal Procedure, 19733), seeking extension of parole for a further period of four weeks. 3.

As per Nominal Roll as on 9th December, 2025, the Petitioner has undergone custody of 13 years, 9 months and 23 days and has earned remission of 4 years, 6 months and 12 days. The Nominal Roll further reflects that the Petitioner has been released on furlough on several occasions since 2016 and has duly surrendered on time on all occasions, except one.

Considering the long period of incarceration undergone by the Petitioner and the object of granting parole as a measure of social reintegration, the parole granted to the Petitioner is extended for a further period of two weeks, on the same terms and conditions as imposed in the order dated 4th December, 2025, passed by the Respondent. 5.
