The Petitioner has been granted the status of a „battle casualty‟ pursuant to the order dated 01.05.2023 passed by the Armed Forces Tribunal (AFT).

At this stage, the limited prayer of the Petitioner is for a direction to the Respondents to consider his case for the grant of extension of service in view of the aforesaid status now accorded to him.

Learned counsel representing the Respondents submits that the period prescribed for the grant of extension may already have expired. 4.

Be that as it may, having regard to the fact that the Petitioner has been granted the status of „battle casualty‟, the Respondents are directed to consider the Petitioner‟s claim for extension of service, in accordance with the applicable Rules, within a period of one month from today.
