The present petition has been filed by the petitioner seeking that the respondent be directed to process the petitioner's application dated 16.10.2025 for grant of further recognition as a Pre-Shipment Inspection Agency (PSIA) forthwith. The petitioner also seeks an interim extension of its recognition, as the existing recognition is valid only till 04.01.2026. 4.

Learned counsel for the respondent, who appears on advance notice, submits that the petitioner's application dated 16.10.2025 for grant of further recognition as a PSIA is under active consideration. 5.

It is pointed out that the concerned Inter-Ministerial Committee (IMC) shall take a final decision and that the said IMC is scheduled to convene sometime in January2026.

In the circumstances, it is directed that the decision making process be expedited, and completed within a period of three weeks from today. the IMC convene within the said period, and a decision be taken on the petitioner's application and duly intimated to the petitioner. 7.

Learned counsel for the respondent submits that there is no provision for 'interim extension' of recognition (beyond 4.1.2026) pending conclusion of the aforesaid exercise. It is submitted that not only the petitioner, but other similarly situated agencies are subject to the same regime. 8.

As such no directions can be issued for grant of any 'interim recognition' to the petitioner pending conclusion of the aforesaid exercise. 9.
